Tamarack Ranch State Wildlife Area is located in Logan county Colorado.

From Crook Colorado, (Interstate 76 Exit 149) go .5 mile north on Highway 55 to check station.

Tamarack Ranch State Wildlife Area is approximately 11,807 acres (18.45 sq. miles or 47.78 sq. kilometers) and ranges from 3,657 ft to 4,001 ft in elevation.

This State Wildlife Area offers the following recreational activities:
- Fishing: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill and rainbow trout.
- Hunting: deer, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, bobwhite quail, dove, duck, goose and turkey.
- Recreation: fishing, hunting, hiking, limited camping and wildlife viewing.
- Restrictions:
   a. Camping prohibited except in designated area.
   b. Field trials may be authorized February, March, August and September. No more than 3 trials may be authorized February - March and
       August, and no more than1 in September.
   c. Fires prohibited except in designated area.
   d. Mandatory check station. Assigned parking spots. Hunters must stay at assigned check-in area until 9 a.m. when they can walk to adjacent
       areas and hunt. Deer and turkey hunters required only to check into east or west Tamarack, unit 91. At south Tamarack south of I-76, unit
       93, mandatory check in and out.
   e. Reservations required by calling 1-800-846-9453 for hunting on weekends and Columbus Day (observed), Veterans Day (observed),
       Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day and President's Day. Mandatory check station. The first hunt date
       available for reservations is the Saturday after October 24 and the last date available is the last Sunday of regular duck season. Weekdays,
       weekends and holidays outside the reservation period and any unreserved or open units are available for hunting without reservations and
       are regulated through check station. Reservations not accepted more than 14 days b, nor after noon the day before the hunt date, or noon
       Friday for Sunday and holidays on Monday. To cancel, hunters must do so by noon the day before the hunt date. Failing to cancel
       reservations may result in losing reservation rights for the rest of the season. Maximum 1 reservation per day, and 1 reservation per phone
       call. Reservations not transferable. People making reservations must be licensed hunters for the species to be hunted and must be at
       property the day of hunt. Hunters with reservations can only hunt area specified on reservation. Mandatory check in and out as posted at
       designated station.
   f. Target practice prohibited except if authorized by area wildlife manager.
   g. Discharging firearms or bows prohibited except when hunting. Discharging bows allowed for bowfishing.
   h. All recreational activities except deer hunting are prohibited on opening weekend of regular plains rifle deer season, and opening day and
       first weekend of late plains rifle deer season.
   i. Horses prohibited north of I-76 except when training hunting dogs and then only allowed in February, March, April (through Wednesday
       before spring turkey season opens) and August.
   j. Launching or taking out vessels prohibited from first day of teal season to last day of dark goose season.
